FULLETON, Calif. – Police have identified a man who was stabbed to death Monday morning on the Cal State Fullerton campus.

Fullerton police were called to the scene of the homicide on the 600 block of Langsdorf where Steven Shek Keung  Chan, 57,  was stabbed in the parking lot.

An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at 8:30 a.m. at the College Parking Lot S, near the Pollak Library. Students and staff were asked to avoid the area. 

Police have not yet identified the suspect, who is described as a man with black hair, wearing black pants and a black shirt. A 911 caller said the suspect was an Asian man in his 20s. 

Keung was a retired faculty member who worked as a consultant in international student registration.

The motive was unknown, but police said they believe he was targeted.

“There is the belief at this particular point of time that the faculty member who is deceased was targeted,” said Fullerton Police Lt. Jon Radus during a Monday morning press conference.
