MALIBU, Calif. - On a warm summer day, who doesn’t want some ice cream? Even those who are making more health-conscious eating choices may be inclined to skip the sweet treat, but at one shop in Malibu, now they won’t have to.

Le Cafe De La Plage is small batch, handmade ice cream that uses only the best and freshest ingredients available.

"Everything is made from scratch. There is no industrial product in our ice cream. No paste, no powder. The caramel, for example, we use our own caramel," said Bernard Benita, owner.

Benita and his wife Sophie moved from France to California two years ago with a dream of making and selling ice cream. They knew the perfect spot was Malibu.

"Here it’s wonderful. There’s amazing vibes, only good vibes. That’s why we chose Malibu," said Benita.

They didn’t want to make just any ice cream, so they hand pick their ingredients. They even have some options that have zero artificial sugar as well as vegan scoops. They want to change the way people view ice cream.

"We try to do the best on everything so that the taste is we hope unique," said Benita.

If you don’t want dessert before your meal, they also serve various French pastries along with breakfast and lunch items. Benita and his wife wanted to offer a one-stop shop for the beach-goers and locals with their flavorful ice cream as the star.

"When we give the ice cream to our customers, it’s wonderful to see how happy they are about it," said Benita."When we give the ice cream to our customers, it’s wonderful to see how happy they are about it," said Benita.

If you can’t make it to Malibu, they also sell their ice cream in Gelson’s, Erewhon, and Whole Foods. Don’t be afraid to try all of the flavors at Le Cafe De La Plage.
