She described the color as “sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic.”

The color-system company has been picking a color of the year since 2000, when Cerulean Blue was its favorite shade. The annual color is selected by a committee of experts from the Pantone Color Institute who analyze entertainment, fashion, travel, technology and social media trends.

Mocha Mousse is “characterized by its organic nature” and “finds harmony and balance between the demands of modernity and the timeless beauty of artful creation,” Pantone said.

For the first time ever, Pantone will take its color of the year on tour at various events and experiences, starting with the London Eye, which lit up in Mocha Mousse this week.
