SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Because the Sacramento Zoo is surrounded by housing, animal exhibits can’t be expanded.

A new state-of-the-art $300 million zoo is now going to be built south of Sacramento in Elk Grove. Guest will be able to eat surrounded by an African savannah.

The project, officials said, will be the newest large-scale zoo in the U.S. within the last 30 years.
