Jamie Kennedy is an award-winning MMJ, covering state politics and digging into the issues that affect the wider Sacramento community. 

Originally from sunny Perth in Western Australia, Jamie earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Curtin University in 2013. While a student at Curtin, Jamie spent a semester studying abroad at SUNY New Paltz in New York, getting a taste for life in the U.S.

Jamie moved back to the U.S. after graduation and began his career in New York. He then moved to Central Texas and covered a wide array of stories, such as the Austin bombings, passing of Barbara Bush, WWE Tribute to the Troops on Fort Hood and many feature pieces on the local community.

Jamie then went to Atlanta where he reported at WGCL, the local CBS affiliate, on investigative pieces, state politics, crime, weather, social justice issues and numerous pandemic-related stories.

Outside of work, Jamie is a proud new father to a little boy, who has opened up a whole new world for him and his wife. Growing up, Jamie enjoyed the coastal life — surfing, fishing, diving and boating. After high school, he spent years sailing around the world. He visited the Mediterranean, Red Sea in Egypt, East Coast of the U.S. and 15 different islands in the Caribbean.
