EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — World AIDS Day is honored every year on Dec. 1, and Los Angeles continues to pay tribute to those lost to the disease with an annual event Friday evening.

The Wall Las Memorias nonprofit will commemorate the day starting at 6:30 p.m. with its 30th annual Noche de Las Memorias event at the AIDS monument in Lincoln Park.

The reliably moving community event will include speeches from local elected officials, panelists and a performance, as well as the unveiling of new names that have been added to the memorial.

The event is free and open to the public. As the nonprofit emphasizes each year, it will be a time for healing, remembrance and action.

The AIDS monument is located at 3600 N. Mission Rd. in Los Angeles.
