LOS ANGELES — A section of the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be illuminated in a rainbow of lights for Pride Month. Starting Wednesday night, the trees along a 0.6-mile stretch of Hollywood Boulevard between McCadden Place and Vine Street will light up in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
“The enhanced lighting along Hollywood Boulevard will positively impact the neighborhood for years to come. This project will not only make our streets brighter and safer, it will also spark a greater sense of place and community,” said The Hollywood Partnership Chief Executive Kathleen Rawson.
The installation of 111 light fixtures is a joint effort between the nonprofit that oversees the public domain within the Hollywood Entertainment District and Los Angeles City Council member Mitch O’Farrell’s office, which represents the area.
While this month’s lighting scheme is intended to show solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community as Hollywood prepares for the return of the LA Pride Parade after four decades on June 12, the lights can be programmed to project any color and will be used beyond Pride Month to celebrate other holidays and causes.
