ORANGE, Calif. — With about 300 volunteer doctors and nurses, the Lestonnac Free Clinic in the City of Orange can help more than 10,000 patients receive routine check-ups, x-rays and more.
In 2024, the clinic will be expanding services by opening the Lestonnac Surgery Center that will provide free colonoscopies, hernia repairs and eye surgeries to more than 100 patients in need on a monthly basis.
A $3 million donation from the Thompson Family Foundation helped make the renovations possible.
One in five Americans are affected by outstanding medical bills, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In the U.S., that medical debt totals to about $88 billion.
