INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Following his Super Bowl win with the Los Angeles Rams, Andrew Whitworth continues to make an impact in Southern California.

On Sunday, Cedars-Sinai will honor Whitworth with a Visionary Award as part of the health care organization's Board of Governors 50th Anniversary Celebration at SoFi Stadium — where Whitworth and his team nabbed the NFL title earlier this year.

  • LA Rams Super Bowl champion Andrew Whitworth will be honored at Sunday's Board of Governors event

  • Nick Jonas will perform at the 50th anniversary celebration, which is being held at SoFi Stadium

"I am truly humbled to be recognized by Cedars-Sinai for my philanthropic work and commitment to my beloved Los Angeles community," Whitworth said in a statement. "I look forward to celebrating with my family and fans."

Besides a "football field experience" provided by the Rams — a Cedars-Sinai partner — there will also be family-friendly activities, a live auction and a special performance by Grammy nominee Nick Jonas.

Sunday's celebration will mark Jonas' first time performing at SoFi Stadium, says Arthur Ochoa, senior vice president and chief advancement officer at Cedars-Sinai.

"It’s not your traditional black-tie gala," added Ochoa. "The Board of Governors really wanted to do something different...something that A. felt celebratory, B. felt really relevant in today’s times and C. really made the most of all the relationships that Cedars-Sinai has in the region."

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Board of Governors Innovation Center, which will bring together researchers and clinicians across Cedars-Sinai to develop precise early-detection protocols and therapies.

“They’ve really become, over these last 50 years, our premiere fundraising and leadership development group at Cedars-Sinai," said Ochoa in describing the Board of Governors' mission. "Since ‘71, they have raised over $170 million.”

Being mindful of the ongoing pandemic, Ochoa stressed that all state and local COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed at Sunday's event, where he expects more than 1,000 attendees. The celebration itself was delayed a year due to the coronavirus, but Ochoa said they expect the celebration to be safe, fun and successful.

"A 50th anniversary doesn’t come along every day," he said.
