POMONA, Calif. — The hamburger chain beloved for its Double-Double cheeseburger is planning a big party for itself. On Oct. 22, 2023, In-N-Out Burger will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a festival at the Pomona Fairplex that will include drag races, a car show, carnival rides, celebrity musicians and, of course, cookout trucks serving up chain favorites like its Animal Style burgers.
“Pomona racetrack is very nostalgic for me because I came here as a little girl to watch my dad race,” In-Out-Burger President Lynsi Snyder said in a promotional video announcing the event. Snyder is the granddaughter of the couple who founded the restaurant in 1948 and the daughter of one of the founder’s sons. “It’s one of those things that fits right into In-N-Out culture.”
In 2023, the legendary drag racing strip on Fairplex property will also be renamed In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip as part of a multi-year sponsorship deal, taking over the Auto Club’s long-term sponsorship.
An iconic family business beloved for its famous (and trademarked) Double-Double cheeseburger, fresh-cut fries and real-dairy milkshakes, as well as secret menu items like its lettuce-wrapped (also trademarked) Protein Style burger, In-N-Out is equally well known for its red, white and yellow logo and drive-thrus that are, invariably, clogged with devotees.
Valued at around $3 billion, the In-N-Out Burger chain started as a standalone restaurant in Baldwin Park, at the corner of Francisquito Avenue and what is now Interstate 10. At the time, it was the first drive-thru hamburger stand in California. The chain currently has 356 locations, not only in California, but in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Colorado.
