LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles State Historic Park is the home of a new LA River farmers market opening Thursday and running weekly from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Designed as a “gathering place for a diverse community to engage in healthy eating, sustainable living and cultural heritage,” according to its website. The farmers market will be located at the south entrance to the park in Chinatown, just a few steps away from the Metro L line Chinatown stop.

Vendors that have signed up so far include Cardenas Farms, Cuyama Orchards, Fungi Valley Specialty Mushrooms, Micro Green Mama, Murray Family Farms and Sunrise Organic Farm. Food vendors include Claritea, Coldwater Canyon Provision, El Machete, Gogoma Bakes, Gu Grocery, Kathy’s Kitchen, Mud Cookies, Polar Bear Kitchen and Delmy’s Pupusas.

The newest of LA’s farmers markets is the result of a partnership between the Los Angeles River State Park Partners and the California Department of Parks and Recreation with support from Parks California, California State Sen. Maria Elena Durazo and California State Assembly member Wendy Carrillo.
