LOS ANGELES — California has almost recovered from a three-year dry spell that left much of the state in extreme drought.
According to new data the U.S. Drought Monitor released Thursday, 66% of the state is completely drought-free, including all of Ventura, Santa Barbara and Orange Counties.
LA County is 97% drought-free, except for the far northeast abutting San Bernardino County.
The only parts of Southern California that continue to be abnormally dry or in moderate drought are Imperial County (0% drought-free), San Bernardino County (6% drought-free), Riverside County (28% drought-free), Inyo County (29% drought-free), San Diego County (80% drought-free).
