EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Consider yourself a daredevil? You might already be well-versed, then, in a daring sort of YouTube series that recently won show of the year at this year’s Streamy Awards.

“Challenge accepted” is what we might say when prompted with a difficult task to complete. The catchphrase also happens to be the name of famed YouTuber Michelle Khare’s hit series that continues to make waves on the streaming giant. She recently opened up to Spectrum News about the future of her show.

What You Need To Know

  • "Challenge Accepted" follows the exploits of Michelle Khare as she attempts some of the most difficult lifestyles and professions

  • Khare's series won show of the year at the 2023 Streamy Awards

  • A recent episode highlight finds Khare enrolling in the International Butler Academy

  • Production of "Challenge Accepted" is based in Los Angeles

Monthly episodes follow along with Khare as she attempts some of society’s most difficult lifestyles and professions. The social-driven and user-friendly nature of YouTube makes it an ideal platform for Khare to hone her craft in front of the camera while experimenting with ideas.

“If something works in one piece of content, apply it to the next,” she told Spectrum News. “That kind of becomes your own way of not only developing a show idea but also receiving live feedback on it, as opposed to traditional TV, where you’re stuck in development for sometimes years before it ultimately gets to be seen by anybody.”

Khare creates content alongside her partner Garrett Kennell and head of operations Nicolas Hurt. Together, their Los Angeles-based operation brings “once-in-a-lifetime experiences” to her YouTube channel, which finds success in the notion that “anything is possible” when it comes to their next “challenge.”

“Some of my favorite things that we’ve done are getting to collaborate with the Secret Service, the United States FBI,” Khare said. “Very recently, we released a video where I went to the International Butler Academy in the Netherlands. So it’s a beautiful thing because we sort of choose our pieces based on what we think the best, most interesting stories are. And just by nature, those stories lead us into some of the most unique parts of the world. We have a video coming out this fall where we lived on an 18th-century sailing ship for a week to experience what our ancestors experienced when they crossed the Atlantic to come to America.”

The show’s success thus far led “Challenge Accepted” to be a top contender at the 2023 Streamy Awards in August — where Khare and her team took home the top prize for show of the year.

“It was a big and exciting surprise, one goal that we’ve been working towards for a long time,” Khare said. “I had envisioned us winning it at some point, and I was just so pleasantly surprised that this year was that year, to be recognized in a room full of creators we’ve watched for years, some of whom we’ve watched since we were kids. And to be honored by that group of people is such a full-circle moment and one that our team really, really enjoyed this year. It was so special.”
