LOS ANGELES — When LA Pride returns this Sunday with its official parade along Hollywood Boulevard, it will be accompanied by a new Pride Village next to the parade route.
A free event that will be set up between Vine Street and Cahuenga Blvd., Pride Village will have a pair of stages for music and performances, including DJs and "RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars" winner Alaska.
Open to the public from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., it will also have a pop-up roller skating rink and roller derby, a beer and bar garden and a Ferris wheel — just like the one in the Hulu show “Love, Victor,” which is sponsoring it.
LA Pride began in Hollywood in 1970 as the first permitted Gay Pride parade in the world, inspiring celebrations globally.
“The return of the LA Pride parade to Hollywood after more than 40 years is a celebration in itself,” said Hollywood Partnership Chief Executive Kathleen Rawson in a statement. Sunday’s inaugural Pride Village is a co-creation of the nonprofit safety and beautification group and the city of LA’s nonprofit Pride organization, LA Pride.
