LOS ANGELES (CNS) — One day after winning the Directors Guild Awards honor for Best Director, Jane Campion earned the Critics Choice honor in the same category on Sunday, and her film, "The Power of the Dog," was named the best dramatic picture.

The joint ceremony was held at the Fairmont Century Plaza hotel in Century City and the Savoy Hotel in London.

On the small screen, HBO's "Succession," a comedy-drama about the four grown children of a mogul vying to succeed their father in running a large media and entertainment conglomerate, won the award for best drama, beating out "Evil" (Paramount+), "For All Mankind" (Apple TV+), "The Good Fight" (Paramount+), "Pose" (FX), "Squid Game" (Netflix), "This Is Us" (NBC) and "Yellowjackets" (Showtime).

On the comedy side, "Ted Lasso" (Apple TV+) again stole the show, edging out "The Great" (Hulu), "Hacks" (HBO Max), "Insecure" (HBO), "Only Murders in the Building" (Hulu), "The Other Two" (HBO Max), "Reservation Dogs" (FX on Hulu) and "What We Do in the Shadows" (FX).

"Succession" performers also won for supporting actor and actress, with Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook, respectively earning the honors.

The Critics Choice Awards was hosted by Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer. The ceremony was broadcast live on the East Coast but tape-delayed for West Coast viewers. During the event, Billy Crystal received a lifetime achievement award, while Halle Berry was given the SeeHer Award.

Among those serving as presenters during the event were Issa Rae, Jimmy Kimmel, Carey Mulligan, Kristen Wiig, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mayim Bialik, Ava DuVernay, Joel McHale, Ralph Macchio and Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay.

Holding concurrent ceremonies in Los Angeles and London accommodated performers and filmmakers who were also nominated for British Academy of Film and Television Arts, or BAFTA, awards, which were also presented Sunday in London.
