LOS ANGELES (CNS) — "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" is once again the top-grossing film at the box office, hauling in another $35.7 million this weekend, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
The martial arts saga from Marvel Studios had the second-biggest opening of any film in the pandemic era last weekend with more than $75 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, trailing only "Black Widow," which took in $80 million in July.
"Free Guy" placed a distant second this weekend with $5.8 million in its fifth week, Comscore reported.
"Malignant" opened with $5.5 million for third place. The James Wan- directed horror film is also available for home viewing on the HBO Max streaming service.
Universal's "Candyman" was fourth with $4.8 million, followed by "Jungle Cruise" with $2.4 million.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were "Paw Patrol: The Movie" ($2.2 million), "Don't Breathe 2" ($1.15 million), "The Card Counter" ($1.1 million), "Show Me the Father" ($700,000) and "Respect" ($502,000).
