LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A new feature-length "Tom & Jerry" movie opened at the top of the box office this weekend, pulling in a healthy $13.7 million at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

It was the second-largest opening weekend since the beginning of coronavirus pandemic, trailing only the $16.7 million made by "Wonder Woman 1984" in December, Comscore reported.

Warner Bros.' reboot of the classic cartoon was far ahead of another children's offering, "The Croods: A New Age," which grossed $1.2 million for second place in its 14th week of release.

"The Little Things" was third with $925,000, followed by "Wonder Woman 1984" with $710,000. Both films are streaming on HBO Max in addition to their theatrical release.

"The Marksman" took in $700,000 Friday through Sunday for fifth place.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were "Judas and the Black Messiah" ($500,000), "Monster Hunter" ($460,000), "Land" ($355,000), "News of the World" ($200,000) and "The War With Grandpa" ($138,997).

Indoor movie theaters in Southern California are closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving only limited outdoor screenings.
