Singer, songwriting duo Jim and Sam packed their bags and performed 100 shows in 100 days in 14 countries to be documented in a new film called, After So Many Days.
Five Things You Need to Know:
- The documentary follows husband and wife music duo Jim Hanft and Samantha Yonack, who decided embark on a year-long tour to play one concert a day for 365 days.
- There were nights where they played for a crowd of 3,500 people and nights where they played for only the bartender. "Whether it was in a nail salon in New York City or a bicycle shop in Reykjavik, we were discovering on a daily basis the power of music," said Hanft.
- Yonack agreed that the music transcended the size of the venue or crowd. "Whether it’s big or small, whether it’s a huge crowd or small crowd, I think at the end of the day it’s about that connection, it’s connecting your music with an audience whether it’s one person or a thousand people, that’s what you can hold on to I think," said Yonack.
- Both don't take their success — or their failures — lightly. "It’s really hard these days not to be looking left or right to what everyone is doing especially when you are first starting out and even now," said Yonack.
- When it comes to advice for other aspiring artists, Hanft said, "I think holding on to why you started in the first place and keeping that the focus is the most important thing. If you find meaning in what you are doing and you do it long enough, your idea of success with completely change."
