LOS ANGELES — The UCLA Police Department reported that a demonstration was happening at and around the school's campus Tuesday afternoon. About 200 demonstrators were marching down Westwood Plaza, southbound, and blocking traffic. The department was monitoring the march.

The demonstrators then left the UCLA campus and were marching on streets in Westwood Village, blocking traffic on the way to the Federal Building. The Los Angeles Police Department was on scene to assist with traffic impacts, the UCLA Police Department also reported.

The UAW Local 4811 had notified the department that it planned to march southbound from Bruin Plaza to Westwood Plaza, westbound on Kinross Avenue to southbound Veteran Avenue and then to the Federal Building at 11000 Wilshire Blvd.

Witnesses' social media posts indicated that the demonstration was tied to President Donald Trump's NIH funding cuts.
