It’s one of the more sickening feelings a driver can have in Los Angeles. You walk out to your car only to find a ticket because you forgot it was street sweeping day.

Well, Angelenos, you’re in luck. Starting Monday, the L.A. Bureau of Street Services is changing the frequency of street sweeping from its current weekly schedule to every other week.

Staff reductions have necessitated the change, the bureau said in a statement released Friday. To help residents figure out when the street sweeper will be chugging by, the city has created a new notification system called Street Sweeping Near Me.

Using the system, at www.streetsla.lacity.org/sweeping, residents can input an address and be notified by email 24 hours before the sweeper will be coming through to avoid a ticket. Residents can also call 311 for information or use the My311 app.

“We want to thank the residents of the City as we make these changes to the street sweeping operation,” said StreetsLA General Manager Adel Hagekhalil. “We are committed to maintaining this important service, while also giving us the opportunity to adjust in order to maximize our resources.”
