LOS ANGELES — California air regulators recently banned a toxic chemical commonly used to produce a shiny metal finish on classic car parts and to protect aerospace parts, plumbing fixtures and other products from corrosion.

However, business owners along with a metal finishing trade group say their industry is being unfairly targeted and that the ban could lead to major job loss in California.
