SAN DIEGO — Flights at San Diego International Airport were allowed to resume operations and TSA began rescreening Terminal 2 passengers after a traveler breached security. The incident forced TSA to direct all passengers in the post-security areas of Terminal 2 and those boarded on planes to be sent back to the pre-security side of the airport to be rescreened.
According to TSA, a passenger with a carry-on that had been identified for additional screening walked into the sterile area of the airport, but when TSA officers began searching for the traveler, they were not able to locate him. As a result, TSA and law enforcement canines conducted a sweep of the terminal and gate areas.
By early Thursday afternoon, TSA had begun screening travelers through Terminal 2 security checkpoints.
The airport's flight status website shows over a dozen delayed departing flights.
This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
