LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline rose four-tenths of a cent Monday to $4.564. It comes after a run of 10 increases in 11 days totaling 6 cents that boosted the price in Los Angeles County to its highest amount since Dec. 14 and ended Sunday when it dropped two-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 4.3 cents more than one week ago and 9.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 10.5 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.938 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5.

The Orange County average price rose two-tenths of a cent to $4.494, ending two consecutive days of decreases and following a 10-day streak of increases totaling 6.7 cents that boosted it to its highest amount since Dec. 12. It is 4.2 cents more than one week ago and 10.5 cents higher than one month ago, but 16 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.969 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5.

The national average price dropped for the second day in a row, dropping one-tenth of a cent to $3.508, and following a 17-day streak of increases totaling 24.3 cents that ended when it decreased one-tenth of a cent Sunday. It is 8.5 cents more than one week ago, 32.9 cents higher than one month ago and 14.5 cents greater than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.508 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14.
