BUENA PARK, Calif. — Music and faux snow fill the air at Knott's Berry Farm this holiday season.
After closing the theme park's holiday festivities due to the coronavirus pandemic last year, Knott's is back and, from now up through Jan. 2, has turned the old Western-themed park into a Christmas/ holiday-themed Western amusement park.
Knott's Berry Farm has transformed into Knott's Merry Farm, and holiday music and performances from Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang are ubiquitous throughout the park.
"Knott's Merry Farm is back with entertainment for our guests of all ages to enjoy," a Knott's official said to Spectrum News. "And we wanted to fill each stage with live shows designed to put everyone in the holiday spirit this year."
In Ghost Town, the Calico Carolers, a quartet of Christmas carolers, ring bells and sing holiday tunes in front of Western-themed buildings decorated with colorful garlands and lights. At night, the area lights up, and faux snow or snoap (snow made out of soap) gently falls from the air on visitors to Ghost Town.
At Calico Park, where a decorated 45-foot artificial Christmas tree stands, the a cappella group, The Sleigh Bells, gives their R&B rendition of favorite Christmas tunes.
The Boardwalk Ballroom has turned into the Tinsel Top Club, where swing bands perform and the dance floor opens up for visitors looking to dance.
Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, a staple of Knott's entertainment lineup, perform their popular bluegrass and country show at the Wagon Camp.
Visitors can also catch The Mariachi Angelitas at the Fiesta Plaza Stage and radio personalities Wayne Deer and Ginger Snaps recording from the KNOT studio at the Boardwalk.
And, of course, Knott's Merry Farm wouldn't be what it is without Santa, Snoopy and the Peanuts gang.
Santa's Christmas Cabin takes over the Wilderness Dance Hall, where visitors can take pictures with St. Nick and enjoy holiday snacks and treats.
Snoopy headlines his own ice skating show. Visitors could watch the mascot beagle glide through the ice and spin with ice skaters and some of the Peanuts gang in "Merry Christmas Snoopy" at the Walter Knott Theater three to four times a day.
Meanwhile, Charlie and Sally Brown, Lucy van Pelt and Linus perform daily in "A Peanuts Guide to Christmas" throughout the day at Camp Snoopy.
As the narrator says during the 15-minute performance:
"Christmas isn't just about the gifts you get but about the joy and love from the heart you get from your family and friends."
