LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Wednesday for the 76th time in the last 78 days since setting a record, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $5.262, its lowest amount since March 5.

The average price has dropped $1.198 since rising to a record $6.462 on June 14, including 1.1 cents on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 4.3 cents less than one week ago and 38.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 85.5 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped Wednesday seven-tenths of a cent to $5.173. It has dropped $1.237 since rising to a record $6.41 on June 12.

The national average price dropped for the 78th consecutive day since rising to a record, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.841. It has dropped $1.175 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, including six-tenths of a cent on Tuesday.

The national average price is 4.2 cents less than one week ago and 37.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 68.2 cents more than one year ago.
