LOS ANGELES — The Compton Cowboys program was founded in 1988. It serves inner city youth in Compton and surrounding areas in response to the lack of programs available to youth who are at risk for dropping out of school, incarceration and poverty.

One of the Compton Cowboys' many programs is the Compton Junior Equestrians, an English riding component that trains young riders for competition.

Zoie Noelle Brogdon started riding in the program when she was 9 and is now moving up the competitive equestrian ranks with her horse, Ninja.
