LOS ANGELES — Politicians, actors and professional athletes have joined in on congratulating Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James for surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's NBA all-time scoring record.

President Joe Biden tweeted a video on Wednesday, saying James has "elevated the game."

LA Mayor Karen Bass tweeted a video of City Hall lit up in purple and gold in honor of James' record-breaking feat with the Lakers.

Earlier on Wednesday, actor Dwayne Johnson tweeted a video of James sinking the record-breaking field goal Tuesday night.

Through a tweet by the LA Dodgers' account, star Mookie Betts also congratulated James in a video.

And late Tuesday night, former Lakers star Shaquille O'Neal tweeted his support for James.
