LOS ANGELES — First performed in 2018, “(Un)Documents” looks at one family’s journey from Mexico to the U.S. as they try to find their place “in a nation that demands sacrifice at the altar of citizenship.”

Creator Jesus I. Valles structures their one-person show around U.S. immigration application forms, contrasting their bureaucratic flatness to the fullness of human experiences.

José Luis Valenzuela, creative director of The Latino Theater Co. in DTLA, said “(Un)Documents” aligns with the theater’s mission of presenting shows that speak to LA’s diverse communities.
