SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Voluntary evacuations have been lifted as firefighters from multiple agencies continue to hold the line against a fire in northern San Bernardino that has burned 145 acres and is 50 percent contained.

All evacuations have been listed and all roads have reopened. The fire started near Old Waterman Canyon Road and Highway 18 early Thursday morning around 2:30 a.m.

San Bernardino National Forest fire officials estimates the fire is at 145 acres.

Approximately 80 homes were under the mandatory evacuation order. An evacuation center was established at San Gorgonio High School, located at 2299 Pacific St., San Bernardino, CA.

Mandatory evacuations were in effect for residents on:

  • Mariposa Drive
  • David Way
  • Arrowhead Road

Voluntary evacuations have been lifted for all homes north of Foothill Drive between Del Rosa Avenue and Manzanita Drive. A fire information call center is open to residents at 909-383-5688.

Firefighters warned that the fire has the potential for large growth as the Santa Ana winds pick up. The fire was moving southward and northeast in the Coldwater Canyon area.

Highway 18 was shut down between 40th Street in San Bernardino and Highway 138 in Crestline due to the growing fire. 

So far, no homes have been damaged in the fire and no injuries have been reported.
