WHITTIER, Calif. – At 28-years old JP Castillo is ready for his next big move, the singer who was born in Costa Rica and raised in L.A. has been a musician since he could remember.

Music is in his blood, his father is a drummer, his mother a singer, and even his little brother joins him in the studio as a musician.

“I started my whole musical journey in church, I didn’t really take it seriously back then, I wanted to be a soccer player,” says Castillo.

But that changed, eventually he went to Fullerton College to study music and during one of their student performances, they needed a singer.

“It was this song by tower of power and I sang it, performed it, crowd went crazy, I went crazy and I kind of just fell in love with entertaining,” said Castillo.

Since then he has worked on several projects that include touring with the Jacksons. Most recently he was a percussionist on Jennifer Lopez’s fourth concert tour “It’s My Party,” which kicked off at the forum in Inglewood. That tour also included six international shows where Castillo sang his newest single “Jugar Al Amor.”

“When we went overseas, she had artists opening up for her and I was approached by her team to open up the show for her and that’s the song that I was performing out there,” said Castillo.

It was an opportunity of a lifetime and now J-LO will be performing at the Super Bowl, whether Castillo will be on stage playing in her band is still in the works. Regardless he is excited about seeing her on stage during the halftime show.

“I’m just, we’re all just really happy for her, she deserves this, she’s been working really hard for this and I feel like the world deserves this, we need a really great performer to do the Super Bowl and she’s the one,” says Castillo.

With a growing number of fans and social media followers, it may not be long before we see Castillo headlining his own tour.
