1. Live Updates: Biden, Trump Hit Battleground States on Election Eve

The president’s final day had him sprinting through five rallies, from North Carolina to Wisconsin.

Speaking first in North Carolina, the president offered his own agenda to invigorate the American economy.

"With your vote we will continue to cut your taxes, cut regulation, support our great police, support our fantastic military, care for our veterans, protect your Second Amendment, defend religious liberty and ensure more products are proudly stamped with that wonderful phrase 'Made in the USA,'” the president said in Fayetteville.

In Pennsylvania, the president assailed as “very dangerous” a decision by Pennsylvania’s top court to allow mailed ballots received in the three days after Tuesday’s election to be counted.

And in Wisconsin Trump touted his success at ending violence and destruction connected with the Jacob Blake protests.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, appearing in Cleveland, opened with a sweet moment as he introduced four of his grandchildren who joined him on the penultimate day of the campaign. “They’re my good luck charms,” the former vice president said.

The former Vice president then spoke to Pennsylvania voters about the power of voting. "You all know the stakes have never been higher,” the former vice president said to a group of union workers and labor leaders. “You have the power to make all the difference," Biden said.

“What happens now, what happens tomorrow, is going to determine what this country is going to look like for a couple of generations,” he continued. “There’s so damn much at stake.”

And in Pittsburgh Biden told the gathered crowd to "honk your horn" if they thought President Trump's repeated claim that he's done more for the African American community of any president since Lincoln was "a bunch of malarkey."

"This is the same man who started the birther movement against my buddy, Barack Obama" Biden added. "This is the man who, when the first black woman is running for vice president, he looks at her and he calls her a monster."

2. After Six Months in Office, Rep. Mike Garcia Is Running Again for CA-25

Republican Congressman Mike Garcia is running for re-election in California’s 25th Congressional District, which includes parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. He won the seat in May of this year during a special general election after former Congresswoman Katie Hill stepped down from the position in November of 2019.

Rep. Garcia said California was in “dire straits economically” before COVID-19 hit. He wants to lower taxes in the 25th District because of that.

“We were seeing an environment that was not business-friendly. We had bills like AB5, which was killing independent contractors and small businesses. This was the bill that identifies independent contractors as full-time employees. And this was killing the gig economy. This is why Uber and Lyft are looking to leave California, and why hundreds of thousands of folks are leaving the state now for Idaho, Arizona, and Nevada: The high tax,” Rep. Garcia said. “My opponent Assemblywoman Smith is directly responsible for about $3 billion of tax increases. So while COVID has us on our back and we’re starting to recover, AB5 and the tax environment and the lack of support for our small businesses in our state have been like little knives in our back while we're trying to also recover from COVID."

3. Herb Wesson Wants to "Close The Spigot" to Homelessness in LA

Los Angeles City Councilman Herb Wesson is running to represent L.A. County Supervisorial District 2. His opponent is California State Senator Holly Mitchell.

Wesson and Mitchell were neck-and-neck during the primary election in March. Councilman Wesson got 29.9% of the vote, while Sen. Mitchell got 29%, according to Ballotpedia.

Wesson said Angelenos need to address the pandemic because it’s not going to disappear after the election on November 3.

“All of the problems that we had in this region prior to the pandemic, we still have today,” he said. “I think one of the most important lessons that we’ve learned, which relates to homelessness, is we have to do more than just build new units. We’ve got to focus on closing the spigot that allows people to flow into homelessness in the first place. So, we’re going to need to put resources in rental assistance programs that do a few things, like provide financial planning for people who found themselves upside down. And we’re also going to have to make small investments that I think will be cost-effective investments in keeping people in their homes now.”

4. Ammar Campa-Najjar Wants to Be The First Arab-American to Serve CA’s 50th Dist.

Ammar Campa-Najjar has been campaigning to represent California’s 50th District for four years. He ran for the same seat in 2018 and lost to his Republican challenger, Duncan Hunter. Now, Campa-Najjar faces off with Republican Darrell Issa. In the primary election in March, Campa-Najjar got 36.5% of the vote, and Darrell Issa got 23.1%, according to Ballotpedia

“It’s very interesting that now we have two Arab-Americans running for Congress. No matter who wins — I think it’s going to be me— we’re going to have an Arab-American Congressman in the 50th District for the first time ever. Especially in the kind of race we had in 2018, I never really thought that was going to be the case. Now in 2020, it just shows how times change,” Campa-Najjar said.

5. 39th Dist. Candidate Young Kim Will Bring Bipartisanship to Congress

Republican Young Kim is running against incumbent Rep. Gil Cisneros for a seat in California’s 39th Congressional District, which includes parts of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Orange Counties.

The former State Assemblymember said the COVID-19 pandemic has brought the issue of accessible healthcare front and center for those in the area.

“One area and that I keep hearing about from the constituents, and the borders of the district, is that they would like to have more access to affordable quality, because it is especially important in light of COVD-19."

She said those with pre-existing conditions should not have to worry about not receiving health care.

“My opponent will tell you I'm against people with pre-existing conditions. That is very personally offensive to me, because I'm a mother of a daughter that has a pre-existing condition — someone who had a brain tumor and is continuing to recover from it,” she said. “We need more access to COVD-19 testing, we need to address the price of prescriptions and lower the price of health insurance, increase access, address price billing, and address price transparency.”
