ANAHEIM, Calif. — Restaurants in Southern California have been hit hard by the restrictions placed on businesses following the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being temporarily closed, the owner of La Casa Garcia Restaurant in Anaheim opened up his kitchen and heart to donate 1,000 meals to front-line health care workers, first responders, essential workers, and homeless people.

The restaurant is celebrating more than 46 years of the community. It’s owner, Frank Garcia, is no stranger to being generous to people and families in need. He and his staff cook warm meals for homeless individuals every holidays season.

On Wednesday, April 29, the restaurant prepared 1,000 meals and delivered them to UCI Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Orange Police Department, Anaheim Police Department, CHP, and those experiencing homelessness.

Senator Tom Umberg, who represents the 34th District, created a Facebook post on Tuesday calling Garcia a “staple of our Orange County family for years.” He goes on to say Garcia is a hero and he is thankful for the rest of the La Casa Garcia Crew.

La Casa Garcia will open its doors again starting on Monday, May 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. They will only accept orders by phone and curbside pickup. Garcia plans to stand outside to say hello to his customers as they order from his new customized special menu.

The restaurant is located on 531 W. Chapman Ave., Anaheim, CA 92802. To place a phone order starting on May 1, please call (714) 740-1108.
