TORRANCE, Calif — Volunteers could be seen all along California’s coastline, rivers and waterways Saturday for California Coastal Cleanup day. The event made its first annual return after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Heal the Bay estimates 3,400 volunteers helped to collect 9,000 pounds of trash from Los Angeles County beaches and inland areas. The organization estimates 300 pounds could be recycled.
