LOS ANGELES (CNS) — "F9," the latest entry in the high-octane "Fast & Furious" film series, spoiled the debut of two other sequels over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, according to final figures released Tuesday.
"F9" collected $29.1 million over the long holiday weekend to maintain first place at the North American box office, according to Comscore, giving it a domestic total of $122.2 million in its two weeks of release.
Sequels dominated theaters over the weekend, with "The Boss Baby: Family Business" debuting in second place with $19.6 million and "The Forever Purge" opening in third with $15.7 million.
Two more sequels filled out the top five, with "A Quiet Place Part II" earning $5.4 million and "The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" collecting $3.9 million.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were "Cruella" ($3.1 million); "Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway" ($2.8 million); "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" ($1.6 million); "In the Heights" ($1.5 million); and "Summer of Soul" ($802,054).
