Spectrum New 1 Anchor Kelvin Washington spoke one-on-one with hip hop mogul and entrepreneur Master P on Your Afternoon.
In the far-ranging conversation, the two discuss everything from the "Rap Snacks" brand he's involved in with CEO James Lindsay, to empowering younger generations to become financially literate.
Master P weighed in on minority-owned businesses and investing in their communities. He also talks about making the business world more diverse with additional Black-owned companies and getting more products from Black businesses onto store shelves.
Master P goes into why entrepreneurship and economic empowerment are so important to him, explaining that he comes from a poor culture and because of that, he wants to effect change. Master P says he not only wanted to always feed his family, but to help feed other families and give others opportunities.
"We are able to give back to families, able to educate the next generation," Master P said.
The two also discuss the importance of education, especially early education, and the line of books Master P has worked on.
