LA PUENTE, Calif. — Vaccination sites throughout Los Angeles County are rolling out efforts to ensure that people who live and work in and around the Southland can have access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
On Wednesday, LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis announced a new community vaccination clinic in at Sunshine Park in La Puente, opening up vaccine access locally so nearby residents won’t have to travel to larger county-run vaccine sites.
The new vaccination clinic, offered in partnership with Fulgent Genetics and the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation, seeks to raise vaccination rates among residents in unincorporated areas near the South San Jose Hills.
“With increased vaccine supply, we are committed to casting a wider net, especially among hard hit communities like South San Jose Hills,” Solis said. “Communities from this region have some of the lowest vaccination rates in the county, and we have a responsibility to ensure residents have direct access to these life-saving vaccines.”
The site will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Though walk-ups are available, appointments will be prioritized. Appointments may be made at vaccine.fulgentgenetics.com.
People seeking vaccines may also check appointment availability at LA County’s vaccine hub online, or by phone at 1-883-540-0473.
