LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The LA Art Show will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center in its traditional time slot in January, just six months after holding its 2021 event in the summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers said Wednesday.
The city's largest art fair, which bills itself as "the most comprehensive international contemporary art show in America," will take place over the weekend of Jan. 19-23 in the center's South Hall.
Kassandra Voyagis will return as producer and director after running her first LA Art Show last summer, when the event was held from July 31-Aug. 1 at the Convention Center.
With travel bans beginning to lift, organizers say many of the show's favorite participating galleries from Europe and Asia will be in attendance in 2022.
Among the exhibitions will be a collection from DIVERSEartLA that will examine how the environment is represented in art and how humanity's place in the world is depicted. Curators hope it will open an important dialogue about the Earth's past, present, and future, uniting the community around discussions of the global climate crisis and potential solutions.
Officials also promised more eye-catching trends in the emerging field of digital art, calling the LA Art Show "the first live show to join the NFT craze."
The show will donate 15% of all ticket proceeds to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, continuing a relationship that began in 2015.
