LAWNDALE, Calif. — It’s hard to believe the high school football season is almost over.

But with no playoffs, this condensed and unprecedented season has just a few games left.

The Lawndale Cardinals took on the South High School Spartans on Friday at Lawndale. And while the Cardinals walked away with a convincing 44-0 win, as with every game this season, the storylines that have defined it had both teams walking away with a victory just being on the field.

Lawndale moved to 3-0 on the season, remaining perfect in the Pioneer League, while South fell to 3-1.

This year has brought plenty of challenges for both teams. Lawndale had to delay the start of their season, while South was itching to defend their 2019 Division 14 Southern Section title.

But for both teams, their senior leadership has had the chance to finish out their high school careers and make lasting memories that made this “smaller” season that much more meaningful.
