WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Red Sox say they're pleased with results from a parking and travel survey they released earlier this month.
The team received feedback from nearly 1,500 fans about travel and parking around Polar Park.
The team says one of their biggest takeaways was nearly 92% of people say they traveled by car to games.
WooSox general manager Dan Rea says the team wants to encourage more people to use ride sharing apps or public transportation.
“We are working very closely with Lyft, for instance, to have dedicated drop points here around the ballpark. We think that will help. They have some great tools that allow them to target customers and bring people to use left. We’re hoping to do the same with Uber,” Rea said. “On the rideshare front, I think it’s just communicating with the operators. On public transportation, we’re talking with the city and state pretty constantly about public transportation. It’s a short walk from Union Station here.”
Rea says another important piece of feedback they heard from fans was to improve both vehicle and pedestrian signage around the park. The team is working with the City to add more signage.
