CHICOPEE, Mass. - Massachusetts State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash on the Mass Pike I-90 on Friday in Chicopee.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old female from Palmer, died as a result of serious injuries in the crash.

Efforts were made by good Samaritans at the scene and emergency personnel, but the woman succumbed to her injuries. A juvenile male passenger in the Subaru was transported to Baystate Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened at the 50.2 mile marker on the Mass Pike around 1:45 p.m. on Friday. The initial investigation shows the 2005 Subaru Forrester the woman was driving was traveling eastbound when she lost control and the vehicle rolled over.

Police say the Subaru crossed over the median and into the westbound lanes of I-90. No vehicles traveling westbound were involved in the crash.

The crash remains actively under investigation by Troop B of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Hampden County State Police Detective Unit, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
