A heat dome in the center of the country will continue to bring dangerous heat throughout the week and into the weekend.


What You Need To Know

  • The eastern half of the U.S. will remain hot through the week

  • Temperatures will be 10-20 degrees above normal

  • Heat illnesses can settle in quickly with this type of heat

Many heat alerts are in effect for the center of the country, with temperatures already reaching 10 to 20 degrees above the average for most over the past few days.

However, they have shifted a little, and areas like Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan are no longer under any alerts.

Temperatures will continue to stay hot for the Midwest and Plains, with highs reaching the lower 100s for many. 

The Southeast will also feel the heat through Friday and Saturday.

Humidity will make it feel even hotter outside. Areas in the Midwest and Plains could see heat indices up to 115. 

The Southeast will feel closer to 110. 

In these dangerous temperatures, heat illnesses can settle in quickly, so make sure you stay indoors as much as possible and stay hydrated.
