GREEN BAY, Wis.— Green Bay Packers' cornerback Jaire Alexander looks and plays like a star.
Head coach Matt LaFleur raved about Alexander and what he brings to not only the defense but the entire team.
“There’s nothing Ja can’t do," said LaFleur. "He’s just a great player. He’s got great movement skills, great instincts. He can play off. He can play bump. I think just making sure he brings it each and every day, which he always does. He does set that standard, just in terms of the energy and effort he brings every single day.”
Confidence has never been an issue for Alexander. He is grateful for the accolades that have started to come, like the Pro Bowl. Yet, he just feels the world is catching up to him in knowing how good he is.
“I have strong faith in my abilities and I have a bunch of confidence," said Alexander. "A lot of times, I don’t really pay much attention to that stuff because I know how good I am. So it’s never really pressure. It’s just another day, me versus me, being the best. I am the greatest. So it’s just a self-affirming affirmation that I say to myself, but I believe it.
Alexander likes what he's seen so far from the new Packers defensive coordinator, Joe Barry.
"He brings a different kind of energy, very positive and just a bunch of energy. We all feed off that," the cornerback said about Barry.
Alexander uses meditation to help block out "noise." He intends to play even better this season.
