Former President Donald Trump threatened Wednesday night to blacklist anyone who donates to ex-United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign.

In a post on his Truth Social site, Trump wrote: “Anybody that makes a ‘Contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!”

“Birdbrain” is a nickname Trump has given to Haley to disparage her. It’s not clear if Trump’s threat applies to donations to pro-Haley political action committees.

Haley responded to Trump’s message with a post on X, formerly Twitter, that read: “Well in that case…donate here. Let’s Go!” and linking to a website for making donations.

The Haley campaign did not immediately respond to an email from Spectrum News seeking further comment.

Trump has swept the first two Republican nominating contests, in Iowa and New Hampshire. Haley placed third in Iowa and second in New Hampshire.

Despite trailing Trump, often by wide margins, in polls in upcoming primary states and nationally, Haley has vowed to continue her campaign. 

“This race is far from over,” she told her supporters Tuesday night after the New Hampshire primaries. “There are dozens of states left to go.”

In his victory speech, Trump made clear he was annoyed that Haley put a positive spin on her performance in the primary. 

“Who the hell was the imposter that went up on the stage before and, like, claimed a victory?” the former president said. “She did very poorly, actually.”

Trump told Newsmax last week, even before his New Hampshire win, he would not call on Haley to drop out of the race, but he added that he thinks she “should.” Haley, meanwhile, has been calling on Trump to debate her.

Trump wrote in his Truth Social post that when he ran for president in 2016, he noticed that donors of candidates who dropped out the race later wanted to help out his campaign.

“This is standard in Politics, but no longer with me,” he wrote.

The former president has a history of using his popularity and influence in the Republican Party to try to extinguish candidates who have crossed him. He, for example, has repeatedly promoted GOP candidates to challenge congressional incumbents who criticized him.
