MILWAUKEE — This season marks a new chapter for the Milwaukee Brewers, as the team kicks off its first year under a newly signed lease and stadium funding deal that is keeping the Crew at American Family Field through 2050.

With that long-term commitment comes some much needed upgrades.

Brewers President of Business Operations, Rick Schlesinger, said improvements are already in place, thanks to The Stadium District.

“The district has redone all the cabling and broadcast infrastructure, which was original to the ballpark. You can imagine the advances in technology since 1997, when it was first installed. This will create a much more seamless and effective experience for fans watching Brewers games, both at the stadium and on the road,” said Schlesinger.

Behind the scenes, the team has also made key infrastructure upgrades like replacing all freezers and refrigeration units and renovating the club-level kitchen.

“Some of these changes won’t be immediately noticeable to fans, but as infrastructure ages and deteriorates, these were projects that definitely needed replacement,” said Schlesinger.

Gov. Tony Evers’ Deputy Chief of Staff, Jenni Dye, said keeping the ballpark in top shape is a priority.

“There’s certainly more work to be done in the years ahead to ensure this remains a first class venue,” said Dye.

Fans will also notice some fresh additions this season, including The Alley that features food trucks with local vendors. And on the field, the grass is in top shape, thanks to a dedicated grounds crew.

“The players really appreciate it. This isn’t Southern California, where growing grass is easy. It takes a lot of work to get the field looking like this,” said Schlesinger.

One of the most meaningful moments of the season will come during the home opener, when the team pays tribute to the legendary voice of the Brewers, Bob Uecker, who passed away just months ago.

The Brewers have planned several tributes in his honor, and fans can also find special Uecker-themed merchandise in the team store.
