GREEN BAY, Wis. — On Thursday night, former Packers receiver Sterling Sharpe was announced as part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

I covered Sterling’s entire career, which was cut short by a serious neck injury. He was a force of nature. A sculpted physical specimen impossible to cover. If his career had lasted longer, he would be a household name. If you never saw him play, trust me. Incredible talent.

He wasn’t warm and fuzzy with the media.

That shouldn’t tarnish what he did on the field.

I know it’s sour grapes and greedy, but I think former Packers head coach Mike Holmgren deserves a Hall of Fame nod as well. Along with Bob Harlan and Ron Wolf, he engineered the Packers’ return to winning that continues today.

I’m not sure Brett Favre would have become the Hall of Famer he did without the patience and offensive genius of Holmgren.

Still, this is about Sterling Sharpe. Another Packers great rightfully headed to Canton.
