BROOKFIELD, Wis. — As Christmas arrives, last-minute shoppers were out at The Corners of Brookfield, making a final push to get their holiday gifts just in time.

“We’re usually last-minute shoppers,” said Brookston Hasbargen.

Carol Montesanto, also shopping at The Corners, is the same.

“Last-minute shopping … kind of love to do it,” she said. “It gets me more into the Christmas spirit.”

Kevin Oblinger was also still looking for gifts.

“Definitely a last-minute holiday shopper usually every year,” he said.

Oblinger said he is fortunate to not be flying solo this year. He’s with his fiancée, McKenna Palus.

“I usually am always ready, but I am helping him out,” said Palus with a laugh.

Sisters Grace and Lucy Paar are back in town from Boston and Minneapolis. They are on a mission to get their shopping done before Christmas Day.

“We are last-minute shopping for our parents,” said Grace Paar. “We both moved away from Wisconsin, so we are back in town, and we wanted to go shopping together.”

Some call it hectic, but these two said it’s all part of fun.

“Definitely more frantic, but today is kind of nice,” said Grace Paar. “We don’t have any plans during the day, so we’re like might as well do some shopping now.”

For others like Logan Luedtke, he’s out at the stores because his online shopping didn’t go as planned.

Luedtke said he’s headed to the nearest Lululemon to pick up a present for his girlfriend.

“There’s a little shipping snafu, so I’m not getting some of the things I had ordered, so this is the backup now,” he said.

Whether it’s with your fiancée, sibling, parent or flying solo, it’s all about finding a little joy in the hustle and bustle—and in the gift of giving.

“I just like the joy of them when I give them a present,” said Hasbargen.
