MILWAUKEE — This Halloween season, the Milwaukee Public Museum’s Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit is all dressed up for the holiday.
The popular walk-through city streetscape depicts Milwaukee around the turn of the 20th century. For the first time, it is now adorned with vintage Halloween decorations.
Madeline Anderson, the museum’s director of communications, said the decorations are designed to bring a spooky charm to the historic streets.
“Some of the decorations are from the museum’s collections. We have four million items in our collections and some of them are from are from early 1900s,” said Anderson. “Our other decorations, our exhibit artist, actually researched what other decorations would have been like and then she recreated them.”
Anderson said some of the decorations are close to 125 years old. She said these Halloween decorations have been a hit with visitors.
“Whether you’re a grandparent or a little kid, all generations really love this exhibit,” said Anderson.
The exhibit will show off the Halloween decorations through Nov. 4. Admission to the exhibit is included with general admission.
