  • 26 We Energies employees will be deployed

  • 24 Wisconsin Public Service workers from Green Bay will be deployed

  • The crew will stay approximately two weeks in Florida to restore power

The crew, composed of employees from We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service, will travel from Racine, Wisconsin, to Florida to provide critical disaster relief assistance.

Nathan Schkeryantz, a 17-year veteran of We Energies, is among those who were deployed.

“My kids asked me why I’m going down there and really, it’s to help people,” said Schkeryantz.

Dave Megna, the vice president for field operations for We Energies, said the crew will remain in Florida for approximately two weeks. The crew plans to restore power to homes in Tampa and surrounding areas.

“They are so grateful to our crews and you know it has an impact on our guys,” said Megna. “You look at some of the storms we’ve been to and pretty much everybody is working as hard as they can and as safely as they can but some of the things that you see, you wouldn’t see them in a thunderstorm in Wisconsin. The devastation is just unbelievable.”

Twenty-six We Energies employees will be deployed, joined by 24 Wisconsin Public Service workers from Green Bay. The crews will make a stop in Brentwood, Tennessee, before tackling power outages and storm damage.

“Nervous, you know, excited to go down,” said Schkeryantz about the deployment. “I am in communication with all the employees going down, making sure we are discussing everything. We have a good plan.”
