GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay and Ashwaubenon school districts are going back to class earlier than usual this year.
It’s thanks to the NFL Draft, which is being held in Green Bay at the end of April next year.
Green Bay resident Cliff Goodacre brought his family to Titletown to enjoy their final day of summer break on Sunday.
“I’m really blessed to just have a chance to enjoy the day with my wife and my son,” Cliff Goodacre said. “To just come out and enjoy the Green Bay community and Titletown and what they’ve built here right in the backyard of Lambeau.”
He said it’s a unique opportunity for the city and everyone experiencing the NFL Draft next year. He said he agrees with the decision to begin school early this year.
“I’m glad that they are giving everybody some time off during the draft,” he said. “It’ll give everybody an opportunity to come out and experience the draft. I also know that my two older kids, who also work, are probably going to be asked to work a little bit more to support all the people that are coming to town.”
Cliff Goodacre’s son, Drew, starts sixth grade on Monday. Drew Goodacre said he is looking forward to meeting his new teachers and attending a new school. He said he enjoys the facilities at Titletown.
“I was just playing football on the field over there,” Drew Goodacre said. “I just like running on the 40-yard dash.”
The 2025 NFL Draft will bring millions of people to Green Bay. Cliff Goodacre said he is excited for the unique opportunity to see such a big event up close.
“It’s going be a little bit busier than what I was probably expecting, than we’ve ever had to deal with,” he said. “I think everybody will have some patience and kindness and truly kind of just get to know others and show them what Green Bay is all about.”
