Infant formula manufacturer Perrigo issued a voluntary recall of iron-enriched formula sold at H-E-B and CVS stores due to high levels of vitamin D.
The affected formula was sold under generic store brands CVS Health and H-E-B Baby.
According to Perrigo, no adverse effects have been reported in connection to ingesting the formula.
The company says short-term ingestion of the affected products is “unlikely to cause adverse health implications,” but there’s potential for health complications in some physiologically vulnerable infants.
If infants experience symptoms while using the product, report it to the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting Program and contact your health care provider.
Perrigo issued the recall in consultation with the FDA.
The affected products were shipped to CVS stores in Texas, Florida, California, South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Missouri beginning Feb. 6; and H-E-B Grocery Company LP stores in Texas beginning Feb. 2.
